Cornerstone laid for the HumboldtHafenEins office
This Thursday the project developer OVG Bischoff, together with Berlin’s senator for urban development, Michael Müller and the future anchor tenant PriceWaterhouseCoopers laid the cornerstone for the office and commercial building HumboldtHafenEins in Berlin-Mitte. Starting in 2015 workspaces will have been created for the more than 780 persons from both Berlin offices of PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), who will move together to work here.
Michael Müller, Senator for Urban Development and Environmental Protection, emphasized: “The construction of the HumboldtHafenEins office and commercial building is a significant architectural contribution to the development of the area surrounding the Humboldthafen. Here an exceptionally attractive building is being created near the central railway station and the government quarter that draws renowned companies and develops an exciting business location in Berlin.”
Thomas Kieper, PwC partner, commented on the new Berlin office: “24,411 leased sqm centrally located, 780 of the most modern workspaces possible and reserves for further growth—those are the impressive dimensions that characterize HumboldtHafenEins, our new home in in Berlin. They demonstrate PwC’s aim to offer our clients optimal service in the nation’s capital and help us to consolidate our position as market leader in Germany.
Coen van Oostrom, managing partner of OVG, said: “We can
hardly wait for the completion of HumboldtHafenEins, our first
building in Berlin, with which we have imported our innovative
ideas for energy efficient office buildings from the Netherlands to
Germany. HumboldtHafenEins will set new standards as Berlin’s greenest
office building. We are certain that PriceWaterhouseCoopers and other
tenants will feel very comfortable here and thank PwC for their
confidence.”
The HumboldtHafenEins office and commercial building, to be completed
by spring 2015, was conceived according to the plans of the
architectural firm KSP Jürgen Engel and is also an expression of the
fruitful cooperation between the Berlin state government, the borough
Berlin-Mitte and private builders.
The prestigious building with some 30,000 sqm of office and commercial space offers the tenants a panorama of the harbor or the River Spree and a welcome location for creative breaks under the arcades in restaurants as well as cafés along its generous public quayside promenade. The anchor tenant for this building, sold to two pension funds in spring 2013, is the international auditors firm PricewaterhouseCoopers Aktiengesellschaft (PwC). Additionally approximately 4,200 sqm of attractive space for offices as well as gastronomy and retailing are still available at Humboldthafen.
