EDGE Technologies announces first EDGE building in Germany

EDGE Technologies today announced EDGE Grand Central as its first EDGE building in Germany.  Located in Europacity, Berlin’s newest urban quarter, EDGE Grand Central is a nine-storey multi-tenant development providing about 22,800 m2 of flexible floor space. Following EDGE Olympic in Amsterdam, EDGE Grand Central in Berlin will be the second project in EDGE Technologies’ portfolio of a new generation of smart buildings. EDGE Grand Central is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2020.

Concentrated around Berlin’s primary transportation hub, Berlin Hauptbahnhof, EDGE Grand Central aimsto minimize energy usage and, once ready, to deliver the smartest building in the Germany. By choosing locations with excellent public transportation and sufficient public facilities at walking distance, EDGE Technologies actively promotes sustainable mobility. In addition to that, a heated and chilled digital ceiling will enable environmentally-friendly use of primary energy resources. EDGE Grand Central will also predict space use to keep operating costs and the carbon footprint at an absolute minimum. The development has already been pre-certified Platinum by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

To ensure a cohesive experience across all cities, EDGE Technologies equipped both EDGE Grand Central in Berlin and EDGE Olympic in Amsterdam with a state of the art IP (Internet Protocol) backbone. The technology acts as the spine of the communication infrastructure, connecting everyone and everything wired in or wirelessly, making tenants’ working lives easy and enjoyable. This will be further complimented with a smart building app allowing for easy surrounding adjustments, such as personalized climate control, room booking, user localization, and much more.
